This fall, as high school seniors in metro Detroit sort through their experiences and efforts to respond to essay prompts and prepare college applications, a new local scholarship recognizes that community impact may not always be blatant; it also provides an opportunity for students to practice essay writing and topic selection before submitting official college applications. The Community Impact Award is a $1,000 scholarship that rewards students who have made or are interested in making a community impact. The scholarship is open to local students living or attending school in Oakland, Wayne, or Washtenaw County and to seniors interested in applying to an undergraduate business program (no location requirements). The application requires a 500-word essay and is due by October 8, 2018.
